ADMINISTRATION AND FINANCE DIVISION

Administration and Finance Division is headed by a Deputy Director; and the Division is saddled with the responsibility of co-coordinating the affairs of the two (2) other Divisions of the Board.

The mandate of the Division includes the followings:

  • Planning, Organizing, Staffing, Co-coordinating, placing and maintaining human and material resources of the Board.
  • The Division proposes and defends the budget for the scholarship grant and other needs of the entire Board.
  • The Division engages in capacity building for the staff of the Board by organizing In-house-training, as well as sending officers to workshops organized by various training outfits.
  • The division is in charge of providing welfare to staff of the Board.

There are Two Units in this Division and each Unit has its Sections. These include the followings:

  • Administration Unit
  • Finance & Account Unit
  1. Administration Unit has the following Sections:
    • Maintenance and Utility Section
    • Store Section
    • :Registry Section
    • Establishment, Recruitment, Promotion and Discipline Section
    • Welfare and Training Section
    • Transport Section (Utility vehicles & School shuttle buses)
  2. Finance & Account Unit has the following Sections:
    • Final Account/Fixed Asset Section
    • Cash Pay Office Section
    • Other Charges/Advances Section
    • Salary Section

Finance and Account Unit; The Unit carries out the following functions:

  • Advice the management on all financial matters as well as the more technical provisions of financial regulations and other treasury circulars.
  • Receive monies on behalf of the Board and account for revenue/expenditure
  • Carry- out disbursement of funds in accordance with directives or approvals
  • Maintain proper and up-to-date books of account.
  • Prompt rendition of all returns e.g. monthly transcript, revenue and expenditure returns, bank reconciliation statement etc.
  • Compiling and defending of the budget proposal as well as controlling expenditure in accordance with budgetary provisions.
  • Liaising with the FCT Treasury Department from time to time for update on financial matters.
  • Liaising with the FCT Audit Department and the Federal Audit on audit and other related issues
  • Handle the financial aspect of sale of scholarship application forms.

Mode of Scholarship Disbursement

  1. The pupils and students of Basic and Post Basic Education levels are paid through their schools. The money is paid into the schools accounts for purchase of education materials for distribution to the beneficiaries as well as payment of tuition fees where applicable.
  2. The students of Nigeria tertiary institutions are paid through e-payment card (Automated Teller Machine ATM cards).
  3. The students of foreign tertiary institutions are paid through their local banks accounts which are accessible in foreign Countries.
